Structure - Financing

Additional Information

→ What is the community’s plan to be financially sustainable?

  • Not starting out with lots of debt, i.e. renting money.
  • Focusing on businesses that fulfill needs instead of wants, which are resilient through economic downturn.

→ How is the community financed?

  • Memberships, community created public events and products may allow us to start and remain debt free, however serious consideration of large loans and grants to accelerate our ambition need to be considered.
  • Possible consideration for land grants

→ How does it generate revenue?

  • CSA program
  • Farmers markets
  • Onsite cafe s
  • Various outlets for Regenerative Organic Food
  • Wellness centers, events and retreats
  • Festivals
  • Ascension Coaching
  • Art
  • Life Coaching

→ Non-profit vs. for-profit: Does the community have a profit motive?

  • Both and more
  • As a diverse umbrella organization, we will have sub organizations of all types, non-profit and for-profit, depending on what makes the most sense for the sub-organization and the super-organization and especially the community.

→ Does the community rely on revenue from its members (internal), or other sources (external)?

  • The Common Unity will rely on both internal and external revenue sources. Initially, some of the co-creators will have full time jobs outside the community and will simply pay for room and board. These funds will support our basic needs program, supporting the rest of the community while it works towards sustainability and abundance.
  • As new programs launch and become profitable, new revenue streams will flow into the community, pooling into the basic needs programs and then into other areas of fulfillment
